The Undrowned

Winter 2020

Hopegood Shakespeare is a wet nurse to abandoned children who was herself found on the steps of a church as a four-day-old. Her tightly swaddled blankets held a poignant token from her mother – a hazelnut – the only proof that she was once loved. All the foundling babies she has held at her breast have tokens of their own hidden away in their tattered blankets. All those tokens have a story sewn into them. All we have to do is find the one with our name on and listen.

The Undrowned fuses spatial sound, augmented reality and projection mapping to reveal the legend of a woman who holds the stories of a thousand lost children...

A new play by Sharon Clark.
