Ghosts in the Machine
Narrative building through binaural sound
Raucous Exchanges - Session 2
Thursday 8 July (4-6.15pm UK time)
Online workshop and discussion with binaural sound designer Helen Skiera and playwright/Raucous’ Creative Director, Sharon Clark.
Helen and Sharon collaborated on The Foundling, an at-home, table top, immersive theatre experience that used AR and binaural sound. During this collaboration they explored how storytelling can be lifted by immersive sound, how this can engender a feeling of personalisation and intimacy in the audience member and how it can construct a visceral sense of world.
About Helen Skiera
Helen describes herself as a Sound Maker. She is a sound designer and composer who has worked with organisations such as The Royal Court, Bristol Old Vic, Shunt and Clean Break, and with Simon McBurney and Gareth Fry on his acclaimed binaural sound theatre production The Encounter. Helen has also worked in a wide range of online games, binaural audio installations and audio drama.
The workshop will be delivered via Zoom, details will be in your booking confirmation email.
WHO ARE THESE WORKSHOPS FOR? Writers, theatre makers, students and anyone who is curious about how their stories and work may shift or expand when they look to work with a range of diverse disciplines and collaborators.
The sessions are part workshop, part masterclass and will enable you to consider your own practice/writing whilst engaging with Raucous and international collaborators to openly share skills, challenges and knowledge.
The sessions will be divided into creative practice discussions and case study sharings, with participation through tasks and discussion.
